iOS 6.1 is finally available for apple devices. This update contains improvements and bug fixes, including:
LTE support for more carriers (complete list of supported carriers at www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/)
Purchase movie tickets through Fandango with Siri, (USA only) iTunes Match subscribers can now download individual songs from iCloud and a New button to reset the Advertising Identifier.
As far as jail breaking:
iOS 6.1 can be jailbroken with Redsn0w 0.9.15b3 but only in tethered mode and only for older iDevices which have A4 chips or earlier. That means it'll work on devices like the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and 4th-gen iPod Touch but not on the iPhone 5 or the latest iPads or Touches.

Unlocking iPhones now illegal as of 1/26/13
As of today all iphone users, hackers or people who sell online are now screwed so to speak. In October 2012 the Librarian of Congress – responsible for reviewing the Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DMCA) – made the decision that unlocking cellphones would become illegal. They did give a grace period of 90 days for people to get their devices unlocked and to get used to the idea but that period expired on Saturday 26th January. So for anyone who is unlocking with redsnow (iOS 5.0 or below) this is now illegal. For those of you who have AT&T or Verizon phones who's contracts have ended, you are still eligible to unlock your phone from your carriers legally. This sucks for people who have old iPhones but you can always search Craigslist for factory unlocked iPhones :D
